Aires Mateus, minimalist architecture

Today we are going to move to Lisbon in order to show you the architecture of Portugueses brothers Francisco and Manuel Aires Mateus. Both are making a serious and constant career that is having an important role among the Portugues architecture and is attracting the international interest during the last years.

Aires Mateus brothers have received a lot of prizes, have  won many contests, have created public and private projects and their buildings is being published around the world nowadays.

Their architecture stands out for its interaction between nature and edifice, simple chapes, sober materals and experimentation with the most basic architecture´s  tools.

These characteristics are develped in their works as its “Simple House” (Alentajana Coust, Portugal).

Other example is the Art Institute of Sines (Portugal) which was opened for the first time 5 years ago and was of the projects finalist in the Mies van der Roher 2007. Prizes

Other important Aires Mateus´ work is the transformation of an ancient winer into a single-family house located in the Azeitao town (South of Lisbon)

Furthermoe, these profesionals have been designed others  public works as the hall of residence in the Coimbra University, the vice-chancellor´s office of  The Nva University (Lisbon) and plenty of houses´s alterations.

No es de las Obras que más me gustan, tal vez por que no soy una experta y si vosotros lo ponéis es que sin duda Vale la pena…Yo lo veo Aceptable…Un abrazo.

Enhorabuena por el post, muy buen resumen, claro y conciso. He hechado en falta la biblioteca de Tavira, algarve (Portugal) donde la rehabilitación del edificio original convive perfectamente con los nuevos usos.
