The architecture studio A-cero, directed by Joaquin Torres and Rafael Llamazares, presents a proposal for the creation of a fun space in Khor Kalba, UAE.

SKETCH

LOCATION

Khor Kalba is a mangrove swamp that lies south of the city of Kalba, located in the United Arab Emirates. It is an enclave of the emirate of Sharjah, lying north of the Gulf of Oman and south of the emirate of Fujairah.

EMPLACEMENT IMAGES

PLANS

This proposal suggests the creation of a playful space nature park next to Khor Kalba, consisting of: 8 restaurants, 8 spaces dedicated to house commercial premises, a children’s play area, a mosque, two natural amphitheatres, landscaped courtyards and gardens, numerous water sources and parking.

We can get into the enclosure through an exterior access for vehicles. Due to the heat the car parks and footpaths are covered by pergolas gardens. The central path leads to restaurants is also covered and heated. The restaurants have a closed and an outdoor terrace. On the cover of the shops are created viewpoints that allow you to enjoy the nearby natural park views.

OUTSIDE

The landscaped roofs of the restaurants create a game of volumes by their different heights.

The restaurants are geared towards a majestic fountain that forms a water jet spectacular 100m high.

The many complex sources create a route that leads to the mosque.
